Switch to Rabobank from 1 May 2026

On 1 May 2026, the Dutch Tax Authority changed from ING to Rabobank. From that date, new Rabobank account numbers appear on assessments, returns and other payment information. The method of payment has not changed, but the correct account number depends on the type of tax. The account number shown on the payment information for the individual assessment or return therefore remains decisive.

The change also applies to refunds: since 1 May, these have been paid from a Rabobank account. For an ordinary business payment, the most frequently used new account number is NL04 RABO 0200 1122 44, but that number explicitly does not apply to every tax.

These account numbers apply to business taxes

For VAT, payroll tax and corporate income tax, the new account number is NL04 RABO 0200 1122 44. The former ING account number for those taxes was NL86 INGB 0002 4455 88. The same new Rabobank account number applies to air passenger tax and minimum tax; for air passenger tax it replaces NL41 INGB 0000 7567 55.

For dividend tax, bank tax and withholding tax, the account number from 1 May 2026 is NL04 RABO 0200 1818 90, replacing NL26 INGB 0000 4412 90. For e-commerce VAT, the account number is NL04 RABO 0200 1444 48; the former number was NL88 INGB 0000 4410 47. Do not use a generally saved Tax Authority payee without first checking which tax it relates to.

Payments from a blocked account have their own number

For payments from a blocked account (g-account), the Dutch Tax Authority has used NL04 RABO 0200 1445 45 since 1 May 2026. This replaces NL78 INGB 0000 4440 40. The former blocked-account number has an additional deadline: it closes on 1 November 2026. Businesses paying from a blocked account should therefore update the number separately in their records, banking software and any payment files.

The Dutch Tax Authority advises businesses that pay in batches or with recurring transfers to check their own settings. No adjustment is needed for direct debit or for payments through iDEAL | Wero in Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk or the Payment and refund overview.

Paid the former ING account by mistake?

According to the Dutch Tax Authority, a payment made to an old ING account number after 1 May does not need to be paid again. The Dutch Tax Authority has arrangements with ING and will still receive the payment and process it correctly. Remove the old number from your address book immediately and amend any recurring instruction so that the same mistake is not repeated.

A missing or incorrect payment reference is different: it can delay processing. The reference can be found in Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk, for VAT and payroll-tax additional assessments from up to two years ago in the Payment and refund overview, or through the payment-reference search tool.

Check official payment information only

The Dutch Tax Authority does not send payment requests by email, SMS, WhatsApp or telephone. Always compare the account number in a letter or digital message with the official list published by the Dutch Tax Authority. This prevents a banking-software change from creating a phishing risk at the same time.
